Padma awards 2020

Padma awards are announced every year on the Republic Day. These are one of the highest civilian awards in India. Padma Awards are given in three categories: 

  1. Padma Bhushan
  2. Padma Vibhushan
  3. Padma Shri


These awards are given in various fields like public affairs, social works, trade and industry, medicine, sports, art, literature and education, civil services, etc.

Padma Vibhushan Award is given for exceptional and distinguished services; Padma Bhushan award is given for distinguished services of high order and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.

The President of India give away these awards at a ceremonial function held at RashtrapatiBhawan in the month of March or April every year. 

This year President has approved 141 awards (including 4 Duo Cases) as per list. The list includes 7 Padma Vibhushan and 16 Padma Bhushan and 118 Padma Shri. Out of the 141 Awardees, 33 are women and 18 from the category of foreigners /NRI/PIO/OCI and 12 Posthumous Awardees.
